A Manhattan grand jury has indicted ex-U.S. President Donald Trump for his involvement in a probe regarding payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels to maintain silence about purported sexual encounters.
This marks the first instance where a former president is facing criminal charges.
The specific charges are currently unknown, but the investigation pertains to a payment made to Daniels during Trump’s 2016 campaign to prevent her from speaking publicly.
According to former Trump attorney Michael Cohen, he facilitated payments totaling $280,000 to Daniels and model Karen McDougal at Trump’s behest.
