NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — New Smyrna Beach Police have released new details about the crash on North Causeway.

Officers responded to a crash at 4 North Causeway, and upon arrival, New Smyrna Beach Fire Rescue was providing medical treatment to a couple who were walking on the sidewalk when they were struck by a vehicle.

The female pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene, while her husband was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A crash with injuries forced traffic to shut down in both directions on the North Causeway bridge in New Smyrna Beach Saturday afternoon, according to New Smyrna police.

According to a Facebook post on NSBPD’s account, civilians are asked to use South Causeway and to expect traffic delays.

The crash is still under investigation.
