ORLANDO, Fla. - A new study by the GLP-1 provider, Peak Wellness, has unveiled the Ozempic capitals of the U.S. this summer. Florida took the top spot.

In order to determine the final ranking, the research examined each state’s average number of searches for Ozempic-related terms from May to September to reveal which states are searching for weight-loss drugs the most frequently over the summer.

The research then adjusted each state’s total search volume per 100,000 people to allow for accurate comparison between states with different population sizes according to the study.

Overall, the research found that searches for weight-loss drugs are 45% higher during the summer months than they are during the rest of the year.

Google searches for ‘Ozempic’ hit their twelve-month peak in August last year, highlighting a greater interest in weight-loss drugs during summer.

The research found that residents in Florida search for weight-loss drugs more frequently than residents in any other state. Residents in the state record an average monthly search volume of 1,964 for Ozempic-related terms during the summer.

According to the data, this is 20% above the U.S. average number of searches of 1,636 per month.

In Florida, ‘Mounjaro’ is the most popular weight-loss-related search term, closely followed by ‘Tirzepatide’ and ‘Ozempic.’

Gerardo Sison, a pharmacist and medical expert at Peak Wellness, commented on the study.

“It’s really fascinating to observe weight-loss drug trends across the U.S., especially over the summer months when searches for weight-loss drugs are noticeably higher,” Sison said. “Interestingly, the states that are typically perceived as ‘tech hubs’, such as New York, California, Massachusetts, and Washington, all appear in the study’s top 10 ranking.”
