ORLANDO, Fla. — The First Academy will take on Edgewater High School tonight in Week Two of the Central Florida high school football season. Both teams enter the matchup 1-0 following victories in their opening games.
Edgewater has built a 48-3 regular-season record dating back to 2021. One of those three losses came at home against The First Academy.
Head coaches for both programs evaluated their opponents during practices ahead of the matchup. The First Academy Head Coach Jeff Conaway highlighted Edgewater’s strength on both sides of the line.
“The Eagles are a very good football team,” Conaway said. “They are very big on both sides of the football. They have a very powerful, effective downhill run. Their defense flies around, makes plays everywhere. They’re stingy on defense, and they’ve been scoring a lot. They scored 34 last week against the Coe, and so we have our hands full.”
Edgewater Head Coach Patrick Browning noted The First Academy’s roster depth and athletic skill.
“They’re big up front on both sides of the ball,” Browning said. “They’re extremely athletic, both the receiver and the secondary and linebacker. They’re a loaded football team, so we’ve got to come out ready to play and play our A game.”
